Trip to Watkins Elementary

On December 16th, Greased Lightning visited the Watkins Elementary School. At this school we brought several of the robots constructed in years’ past along with our current robot for competition. We began by giving a powerpoint demonstration to the students. They were all thoroughly intrigued by the technology that the robots utilized. The students were full of questions regarding competition details and the tech specs of the robots. The final part of our presentation was a live demonstration of the robots. We began by driving the robots around in the cafeteria which caused the room to surge with excitement and this was surpassed once the students were able to operate the robots for themselves. With close supervision the students drove the robots around in the cafeteria and truly experience the wonder of these machines.
